Today (a poem about Mommy and Son)

(Written April 17, 2021 and finished on April 22, 2021) Today we went to the library Smeared cream cheese on our lips At the café And picked up drive thru tacos When we got home We played cars And read books And tickled And splashed And blew bubbles And sang--Old MacDonald and Baby Shark I caught a bubble for you You caught one too We tried on new sandals And walked outside Sat on the steps And made silly faces We opened up packages And took pictures together We giggled And grinned Cuddled and hugged And there weren't any tantrums or tears I live for days like these Just Mommy And you You won't remember Today was perfect But I will.

More Independence and Angry Feet

Well, I knew it was coming. My sweet boy, though still incredibly sweet, continues to head toward the big 0-2, which means big changes, big feelings, and becoming a big boy! As he gets braver, stronger, and smarter (as if that was possible, right?), he's also discovering the things he really likes to do and feels he should be able to do and the things he really doesn't like to do and feels he shouldn't have to do. Because of this, we are starting to get a few more cry outbursts that I hesitate to call "tantrums" because he doesn't drop kicking and screaming to the floor. But he will occasionally wave his hands wildly, burst into tears, or stomp his "angry feet" when he's not quite getting his way. Sometimes it's simply because he wants Mommy instead of having his diaper changed. Other times it's because I dared to flush the potty or open the garage door without him. He's especially big on being able to wash some of his own dishes or p
